Beginners Class

We run beginner courses and classes at regular intervals (generally every 3 to 4 months) throughout the year. A beginners course is usually 6 or 8 weeks in duration. When we have finalised the details of a course, we will post announcements on our Facebook page and include information on how to register. You must register for a beginner course, as places are limited.

Here are some general points to note:

  • Students must be aged 7+
  • Adults and kids are welcome on the course
  • A white t-shirt and any tracksuit bottoms must be worn
  • No jewellery such as necklaces, watches, rings or bracelets are allowed at any time
  • Student’s train in bare feet
  • Parent are not allowed in the dojo during training.
  • The cost per class is the same as our Standard Class fee and is “pay as you go”
  • Parent are not allowed in the dojo/hall during class
  • Parents must collect children promptly when class is finished
  • Photography or video recording of classes is not allowed

Beginner Class Course Announcements

When the details for a beginners course have been finalised, we will post the information on our Facebook page. The announcement will include a start date and a link to the course registration form. Anyone wishing to take part must register. NOTE: Registration does not guarantee you a place on a course. We will email those students that have secured a place before the course begins.

From time to time we may impose additional restrictions on eligibility. For example, we might only allow students aged 10+ to take part.

Adult Beginners

Any adult wishing to try karate is encouraged to look out for one of our regular beginner courses. However, if you are keen to give it a go then we may be able to arrange a few classes to see if its something you would like to take up. If this case you should get in touch and we will try to arrange a time for you to come in. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate you.

Please note this option is not available to anyone under 18 years of age. Anyone under 18 must start on one of the beginners courses.

Our beginner / starter courses are a great way to find out if karate is for you.

A Note for Adults Considering Karate

One thing you should bear in mind when considering joining us, is that class times are 18:00 on Monday and 18:00 on Wednesday. After a beginners course has completed, we would expect adults to train twice a week as much as possible. This can be challenging for adults who work or study.
